Telework: A New Season Begins!
On March 13, 2020, teleworking appeared in our lives just like a good cliffhanger in one of the series’ finale we have been watching since that fateful day. But now, it's time to start watching the next season: The Return of the Office! Indeed, this is the announcement made on November 2, 2021, by the Government of Quebec. As of November 15, the instruction to favour teleworking, when possible, will end, at the discretion of each employer. For those concerned, the return to face-to-face work will be possible, although hybrid modes allowing the continuation of telework remain recommended.
It is therefore time to ask yourself about the real needs of your organization while taking into consideration workplace issues such as labour shortages, the attractiveness of your organization and employee retention.
We must repeat it: there is no such thing as a right to telework! It is rather up to the employer to determine the work organization mode that he entrusts to his employees. Nevertheless, before taking this privilege away from your employees, you should think about the issue and determine the advantages and disadvantages of a hybrid mode, taking into account your experience over the past 20 months.
